Leo Novikov - Beautiful Music for Beautiful Events In the heart of Maroubra lives a classical violinist, talented teacher and a concert performer, Leo Novikov.
Leo Novikov received a classical education and graduated from the prestigious Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow as a violinist in 1988. His all creative life has revolved around music. While still studying at trhe Academy he started performing in the orchestra of the Moscow State Variety Theatre and later in the State Symphony Orchestra of Cinematography of the USSR, where he recorded music for more then 300 films including many violin solos. At the same time Leo performed the psychotic role of the violinist in "Doctor Faustus" - a production based on a play by Goethe.
In 1989 Leo fulfilled his dream where he successfully auditioned for one of the best orchestras in the world - The Moscow Philarmonic. As a member of this outstanding company Leo performed at some of the most famous venues in England, Italy, Spain, Portugal, San Marino, USA, South Korea and Japan under celebrated conductors such as Vasilii Siniavski, M.Jansons, D.Kahidze, accompanying many world renowned solo violinists and solo pianists. In 1990 Leo was invited to perform at one of the Russia's most popular theatres - The Moscow Operetta Theatre, and it was there that he made his debut as the Fiddler in the famous play "The Fiddler on the Roof". From the late 1980s Leo embarked on an intensive period of concert aciivity. Among his many performances were solo concerts in Tbilisi (Georgia ), in Cannes (France) , Jurmala (Latvia) and of course, Moscow.  In 1993 Leo immigrated to Australia with his wife and children, and soon acheived acclaim as a classical violinist and also the creator of striking virtuozo violin shows. From 1994 to the present he has been a Senior Lecturer at The Australian Institute of Music. In 1996 he was invited to conduct the first television series of Master Classes in Australia organized by the Australian Institute of Music. In the years between 1993 to 2004 Leo performed with singular success at a variety of venues: Parliament House, The Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House, The British Consulate, on Channel Nine Television in the program "Ernie and Dennis", and also in various towns around Australia. Amond his many achievements, in November 2003 Leo became a prize winner at the First International Competition "Golden Hanukkah" in Germany in the String Instrument Category.
Leo's Violin MagicFor more then a decade Leo has been teaching students in his "Violin Magic" School passing all his talent, knowledge and experience to the young generation. He puts a lot of efforts and dedicates all his soul to his students, with the aim to develop their musical and personal abilities and lifelong interest to music. Leo's teaching method is based on the best traditions of the Russian Violin School. He was privileged to study from the several great Russian teachers. During Leo's more then 25 years of experience in teaching violin and viola many of his students became professional violinists. His students regularly pass AMEB exams with high results and participate in various competitions. For 10 years Leo was a Senior Lecturer at the Australian Institute of Music, then he was teaching at the Sydney Conservatory High School (class of chamber ensemble) and at the Open Academy of the Sydney Conservatory.
